Wills, Probate and Powers of Attorney

Wills

The sensitive area of Wills can be complicated. It can be difficult to balance the competing interest of immediate family and relatives with the added burden of making your will tax efficient.

At Blakewater Certus Solicitors, we offer pragmatic, straightforward solutions to all of your will drafting issues, handling your case sensitively and with great attention to detail.

A will is essential if you have children, or if there are people outside of your family that depend on you financially. Having a Will created by an expert can also reduce the amount of inheritance tax that may be due on whatever you plan to leave behind – a weight off your family’s shoulders.

If you die without a will, the intended beneficiaries may not receive what you have left to them. Make sure the distribution of your estate is carried out in accordance with your wishes, with our extensive wills drafting services

Whether you’re coming to us with the intention of drafting your first will, or looking for an expert to review or tweak an existing will, we can cater to your every need.

There is a lot to be aware of in relation to estate administration and probate, and we will always make sure that you know what we are doing and why.

Below you will find links to details of what we charge and what is involved.

The amount we will charge you depends upon the nature and complexity of the estate and the extent of any difficulties we experience in relation to identifying, contacting and dealing with executors, administrators and beneficiaries.

It will also be affected by whether we undertake all of the administration of the estate or simply elements of it and whether there are, and the complexity of, any trusts.

Any member of our Wills and Probate team will be pleased to help you understand what we will do for you, what it will cost, the timescales involved and who will be responsible for that work. However, the information you will find by following the links below will help you.

Our specialist team of Wills, Probate, Tax and Trust Solicitors work with you to ensure there is a fluid transfer of wealth from one generation to the next whilst protecting your financial assets.

Probate

Our expert Probate team will ensure that they take care of the probate process and distribute your loved ones estate in accordance with their will, assisting you at every stage from obtaining a Grant of Probate to Administration of the Estate, so you can focus on the things that matter.

We have an in-house conveyancing department, which means that the whole process can be dealt with seamlessly without the need to go elsewhere for the transfer of property and assets under the Will.

Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)

If you wish for a trusted someone to take control of your estate via Powers of Attorney, we can help make that happen.

We understand that in the future, some people’s ability to make decisions regarding their wellbeing or financial matters may not be as clear as it once was and we facilitate our clients concerns by the appointment of one or more attorney, who you trust to make the right decisions when you need them to.

Our Solicitors will try and work around your needs. If you need us to visit your home, we can arrange that, and we can speak to other stakeholders on your behalf to ensure your affairs are in order. We’ll act in your best interests, and offer impartial, independent advice at all times.
